"It's Not Your Grandma's Century!" Returns

SABA CENTURY - It's not your Grandma's Century!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 19, 2012 as our SABA Century returns next year. We expect the routes to be the same in 2012 and the experience better than ever.

This year, the SABA Century will be honored to have Saul Raisin, former professional cyclist and traumatic brain injury survivor, ride in our event. After winning "Best Young Rider" at Tour de Georgia, Saul suffered a devastating crash in 2006 while participating in an European road race. Saul's parents rushed to Europe where they learned that Saul’s doctors didn’t expect him to survive. The crash resulted in a traumatic brain injury, Saul's brain was swelling and emergency surgery had to be performed.

Saul's story is not merely of his miraculous return to life, but that of inspiration, dedication, and hope. We are honored that he will ride with us this year.

Jackrabbit Trail News:

Close to 15 miles of machine constructed singletrack trails have been completed and are based on a stacked-loop design. The 3.1 mile Central Loop is the "core" trail that all other optional trails are connected. Many of the trails border Lake Chatuge, while others meander through the woods or ridge-top. These trails were specifically designed to appeal to all skill levels, beginner to advanced. It remains a work-in-progress, with signage, maps, parking lot facilities (pavillion/restrooms/information board) being planned, along with optional technical trail features (TTF's)...read our interviews here with Mike Riter of Trail Design Specialists.
